Bigger is not better in the HVAC industry; having too big of size heating or cooling system will cause you to feel a high level of humidity, you feel clammy, and just an overall discomfort. Too big a system will also cost more money up front and more money to your monthly utility bills for the rest of your life.
Having too small a system will cause the system to run a lot longer than it should. By taking into consideration your walls, your windows, how the home faces according to the sun, taking in account infiltration, insulation, square footage, flooring, if you keep your blinds open or closed, appliances, etc…the goal is to find how much heat the home is losing in the winter time, and how much heat the home is gaining in the summer time; where its coming from and how much.
The Smith and Willis Energy Audit will allow us to calculate two things: one, the size; extremely important, and two, how much airflow is required for each individual room; just as every house is different, so is every room. Consumer Reports says specifically, ‘Do not do business with anyone who does not do a Manual J Load Calculation.’ Or in other words, as we call it, the Smith and Willis Energy Audit.
